Show a Little Love...

Since today is V-Day, I got to thinkin’, why is there so much hate and anger between coaches/athletes/fans? Isn’t Valentines Day a day for love? Here is a quick list of coaches and athletes, coaches and fans and athletes and fans who should kiss and make up.

· Mike Davis/University of Indiana fans

Saturday afternoon, the Iowa Hawkeyes visited Hoosier-land and gave them a bigger whipping than Coach Knight could have ever done with his bare hands or with flying chairs. During their disappointing season (disappointing according to Indiana students and fans, not to me), head coach Mike Davis has come under a lot of scrutiny, where it got to the point where students dressed in black to protest Mike Davis still being head coach. That episode then boiled over to Mike Davis’ comments “Indiana needs to have one of their own. They need to have somebody that’s played here so then can embrace him.”
Some strong words from someone who is supposed to be their leader. If Davis got some lovin’ from Hoosier fans, is he insinuating he’d be a better fit for the program? If that’s the case, I think the Hoosiers could find themselves someone to help him out, right? Oh wait, hasn’t a coach been fired for something similar….

· Kenyon Martin/Denver Nuggets fans

Last week Kenyon Martin (one of my favorites) was being heckled by some unhappy fans and K-Mart didn’t appreciate the “love” he was getting from them. It has since been reported that K-Mart sent someone into the stands to confront the two individuals and that K-Mart approached the fans after the game. Martin denies all allegations, but it has become abundantly clear that the fans of Denver are fed up with Martin and his nagging injuries. I think it is time for Nug Fans and K-Mart to kiss and make up, or at least get a female trainer to help “ease” his pain.

· Jason Kidd/Stephon Marbury

Marbury is angry and jealous about the fact that Kidd gets more credit and props for being a better player. So Marbury, who coined himself the best point guard in the NBA a year ago, has said that if he and Kidd played “street ball” with out Jerseys and Numbers on their back, fans would know who the better player was. Kidd’s response; I’m bigger, faster and stronger. All true. And plus Kidd has taken his team to 2 NBA Finals. Marbury, 0. But since this is a day for love and since they live across the river from one another, they should kiss and make up. I think the best way for this to happen is for them to do this is to spend a day in the others shoes. Kidd play for Marbury and Marbury to spend the night in Kidd’s bed with Johanna and to deal with T.J.’s (Kidd’s’ son) overly gigantic melon.

· Ron Artest/Indiana Pacers

Ron Artest has had a history of being a delinquent and bad human being. But the Pacers organization, fans and teammates still accepted him and stood by his side through the good and bad times, even after he wanted to take some time off to promote his rap album last season and the melee that took place at The Palace in Detroit a year ago. But then things got sour. Artest demanded a trade. Players got tired of his antics and got pissed off at him, rightfully so. After Artest thought about what he wanted, he decided he wanted to remain with Indiana, but Indiana didn’t want him. So after a few months of trying to trade him to any team that was willing to take him and his baggage, the Malloof brothers took the gamble and brought him over to Sacramento.
Now that Ron is off to start a-new, I believe it is time for Artest and the Pacers to make amends. I’m sure giving them his rap album would be a start.

· Knick Fans/Isaiah Thomas/Larry Brown/Knicks roster

I didn’t feel like writing all these individually, so I figured it would be easier if I just grouped them all together and wrote something short, because after all, they all suck.
Let’s get something straight here….Knicks have more talent than what it shows. But for some reason Knick fans don’t blame Larry Brown for the sickening season they are having. How isn’t he to blame? At least the players blame him.
The Knicks are like a vicious circle of Herpes. The Knick fans blame Isaiah, Larry blames the players, the players blame Larry, Larry blames Isaiah for not getting him more talented players and then everyone gets angry that the fans don’t show up to watch these school girls play at the Garden. The only way they can kiss and make up is…well, actually, I don’t think there is a way. The players want to slap Larry harder than Ike slaps Tina, and the Knick fans want to pull an O.J. on Isaiah. I think there is no cure for this one. Roses and chocolates won’t do.
